The new scenery for Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (LPPR) is now available for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Located approximately 11 km northwest of Porto’s city center, LPPR serves as the primary international gateway to northern Portugal. The airport is known for its efficient layout, modern infrastructure, and distinctive approaches along the Atlantic coastline. This release focuses on accurately reproducing both the physical environment and the operational logic of the airport.
Development Approach
Rather than treating visual fidelity as an isolated objective, this project emphasizes functional realism. The goal is not only to replicate how the airport looks, but how it behaves in real-world operations. This includes correct spatial relationships, logical stand allocation, and consistency between airside elements.
Key Features
- Fully up-to-date airport layout based on current real-world data
- Detailed terminal interiors and exteriors with consistent scale and structure
- Custom ground textures using high-resolution PBR materials
- Dedicated animated jetways aligned with actual stand positions
- Accurate ground markings, signage, and parking stands
- Realistic night lighting, including stop bars and approach lighting systems
- Optimized performance to ensure stability across different hardware setups
- Native integration with MSFS terrain and photogrammetry

Performance Considerations
Scenery complexity often introduces performance trade-offs. In this case, optimization has been treated as a core requirement rather than a secondary step. Asset density, material usage, and draw calls have been managed to maintain smooth operation without reducing visual clarity in critical areas.
Availability
The scenery is available via the following platforms: Contrail, simMarket, Orbx, iniBuilds.
